Tales of the Neglected –
The sad stories of objects left behind

is drawing reportage that captures objects left in the street of Berlin and their emotions. Through short fictional stories, the book offers another kind of perspective on the way objects might feel when being abandoned in the street, drawing a parallel to the loneliness that can be felt when living in a city.

The project combines photography and black ink, resulting in a style that falls between a Gothic and a street-like aesthetic.
While the first sketches happened on site, textures and photography would be digitally integrated into the original paintings.

About

''Cabinet of Polichinel'' is a project by Mylène Ben Osman: fine artist, illustrator, and 3D/mixed media artist based in Berlin, Germany.

The cabinet aims to present a collection of artworks and projects that may differ in their techniques of creation but always focus on similar themes such as dark nature, crumbling worlds, and the mysteries of the mind, weaving together introspection and a broader perspective on society.

While studying game design introduced her to the art of world-building and interactivity, ink painting reconnected her with a more direct and intuitive approach to creation. In both types of work, the audience is invited to explore worlds that are pleasant and disturbing at the same time. Her creations also aim to give a voice to what may be considered small, neglected, strange, or damaged in a world dominated by the big, the beautiful, the clean, and the acceptable.

The collection could be described as obscure poetry, or the art of juggling between the pleasant and the disturbing to produce mysterious pieces.
